Let’s face it… modern life as we know it is a full throttle endeavor where productivity is currency, and taking care of yourself seems to be put on the back burner more often than not. Self-care is a new term that is being thrown around a lot lately, and it's easy to google lists of things that you could jam into your week to varying degrees of success. For me, I find that I am most successful in taking care of myself when simplicity is the mindset, and the tools that I use don’t pour on the stress of getting to a class, or meditation on time!  

This is where skincare can really be self-care. By using ethically sourced, plant-based and EFFECTIVE skincare products, the daily grind of your hygiene schedule can be a relaxing, sensory experience that helps to prime you for the day, and/or reset you in the evening. And all in the same timeframe that you do your normal routine in. The straightforward act of spraying an aromatherapy toner on your face can remind your brain that all is well, and induce a much needed deep breath that your body has been craving all day. 

10 WAYS TO PUMP UP YOUR SELF CARE THROUGH SKIN CARE ROUTINE

  1. Look at a spray on toner as a spa in a bottle… You can spray yourself at anytime for a much needed refresh without disturbing your makeup or your work schedule. Try our Lavender Hibiscus Toner.

  2. When you wash your face at the beginning and end of the day be sure to take the extra time really massage the face. Especially the jaw, temples, and between the brows to increase circulation and down regulate stress. 

  3. Find skincare with beautiful and natural aromas that are pleasing to you, and feel like a mini olfactory retreat. But don’t just pick products that smell good, they must be effective as well! Ingredients that do double duty are essential oils like lemon, lavender, peppermint, calendula and ylang ylang. These are not only healing to the skin, but are also excellent scents that induce relaxation and upliftment. 

  4. Only choose products and rituals that you will actually DO, and that also WORK. Don’t waste your time and money on products or ideas of self-care grandeur that aren’t in line with who you are, and what you like. 

  5. When applying your favorite serum try and let your jaw go slack as to let those muscles of survival take a rest.

  6. Try pinching your eyebrows from the inner corner to the outer corners if you have had a long day. 

  7. Store your eye gel in the fridge to help perk up groggy peeps in the morning.

  8. Apply a face mask before you brush your teeth, and by the time you jump in the shower, it’s time to rinse it off.

  9. SOAK YOUR BODY. Whether it’s a full tub or just the hands or feet, soak in an epsom salt bath regularly. The salt helps to instill much needed magnesium transdermally which is well known to help relax the nervous system. Add high grade essential oils like rose and lavender (or any other smell you enjoy!) to bring this to the next level. A night time soak is also a great time to face mask also!

  10. Create a mindfulness practice within your routine. When you cleanse tell yourself you are washing away stress, concerns, or circular thoughts. Then when applying product think of things you are grateful for, or qualities of being you would like to increase in yourself. 


Add in all or a few of these simple, efficient and uncomplicated things and enjoy healthier skin and mind.
