The Problem

You’re in your 50s now and if you have not been taking care of your skin, you are really starting to notice the signs of aging.  Many of theskin changesyou mayhave experienced in your 30s and 40s are much more apparent in your 50s.  Lines get deeper. Sagging gets worse. More brown spots, redness,and dry, dull skin appear.

Skincare Regimen In Your 50s

Restoration

The Mikel KristiCore Collection with ourRejuvenating Swipes is the perfect daily skincare regimen to handle all of your skincare needs in your 50s, or better yet, atanearlier age. If you began taking care of your skin with proper exfoliation, restoration,and protection at an earlier age, (preferably in your 20s) then your skin should be in great shape in your 50s.  Ifyou’re like many people who didnot start using effective skincare in your younger years,then the Core Collection gives you everything you need to pull double duty for healthy skin.  Thefollowing expertly crafted products have restorative, bio activeingredients, and are included in our Core Collection;

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is encouraged with ourRejuvenating Swipes and ourVital A Rejuvenating Serum.

Protection

Protection is provided with ourC Radiance Moisturizer, Vital A Rejuvenating Serum, Biopeptide Revitalizing  Serum and ourLavender Hibiscus Toner.  As you can see, our products work synergistically to defy the visible signs of aging.

Common Concerns

Sagging Skin

Sagging skin is probably the biggest concern for most 50 somethings. Sagging skin is the result of collagen disintegration and lack of natural collagen production. Your collagen needs to be encouraged to grow with the proper skin restoration ingredients, and with skin treatments. To nurture your skin, on a daily basis, use ingredients such as Retinaldehyde, Peptides, and Vitamin C, which are all found in theMikel Kristi Core Collection. Skin treatments such as BBL, lasers, microneedling, radiofrequency, and ultrasound can be great adjunctive treatments to your skin care regimen. You may also choose to do dermal fillers to restore the facial volume that has been diminished from bone and fat loss under the skin. For additional information about non-surgical facial treatments you can  schedule a consultation at my medical practice, Skin Appeal Tucson, or visit the Skin Appeal websitehere.

Skin Cancer

Another concern in your 50s is skin cancer.  Many pre-skin cancers (actinic keratoses), and all types of skin cancers, start to appear in this decade of life, especially if you grew up as an outdoor lover and did not use proper sun protection. Most of us are guilty of this because we just didn’t know any better.  Remember to apply SPF with Zinc Oxide every morning to your face, neck, and chest. We loveElta MD SPF with Zinc.   I also recommend seeing a general dermatologist on a yearly basis, for a full body skin screening, to diagnose and treat any suspicious lesions.  A self-skin exam to look for new lesions or changing moles should be done AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH!

Aging gracefully and timeless beauty can be easily achieved with the right products, procedures, and knowledge.  We’re here to help you look and feel your best in your skin.
