What is Product Cocktailing? 

Product cocktailing is the art of blending and applying two or more products together to take your beauty results to the next level. It also helps streamline your beauty routine and save time by combining steps. This technique can be done by combining similar products (formulated to work synergistically) at once, and then applying to your face. 

How do you do it?

It is simple!! First get to know Mikel Kristi’s simple 4 step product system!

Our Daily Skincare Regimen will take you under 5 minutes…

Step 1- CLEANSE (Washes)

Step 2 REFINE with Toners and/or Swipes

Step 3 TREAT with Serums — HERE IS WHERE THE COCKTAILING AND TIME SAVING REALLY COMES IN TO PLAY!!

Step 4 BALANCE with Moisturizers, Lotions, and Extras

Cocktailing is most effective for customizing in the Step 3 Category, when we are using multiple serums for various reasons. Although Step 3 Serums and Step 4 Moisturizers & Lotions can also be cocktailed to simplify and shorten the application process. 

We recommend the Bio Peptide Revitalizing Serum to address dull and lackluster skin, textural irregularities, blemishes, uneven skin tone, and fine lines. Add one pump of that to your hand!

Then add one pump of the Vital C Repair Serum, which is packed with powerful actives, nurturing antioxidants, essential nutrients, and our unique brightening compound, all working synergistically to help brighten, firm, smooth, improve skin tone and texture, and help reduce the signs of photo-aging.

And at bedtime, make sure to add one to two pumps of our of our FAVORITE, the Vital A Rejuvenating Serum. This serum aides in increasing cellular turnover and helps boost COLLAGEN PRODUCTION, to deliver visibly firmer, brighter, and more youthful looking skin. It also smoothes, reduces, and prevents fine lines and wrinkles.

Rules To Remember: 

• Layer products on your face from lightest to heaviest. Refer back to our 4 step lineup. We start with a light wash and end on step 4 with a moisturizer.

• Cocktails are a liquid consistency, so any other ingredients chosen in your cocktail need to be a similar fluid, as well.

Why are serums the favorite choice when it comes to cocktailing?

Serums are the perfect consistency - they aren’t water-like, but they also aren’t too thick. They are just thick enough to easily mix with one another, not fall through your fingers, and then easily be applied on to the skin.

It is also worth noting that ingredients with thicker consistencies like creams are not the best choice for a cocktail, as they are best suited for a LAST step to lock in moisture and seal in any previous topicals applied to the skin. Although, Mikel Kristi Skincare Moisturizers and Lotions are formulated to work synergistically with our serums, so they can be cocktailed when you’re short on time or when your skin doesn’t feel overly dry.  

Can I mix other product brands into my Mikel Kristi lineup and cocktail those as well?

Sure!! While we would love for you to use all of our Mikel Kristi products; we completely understand if you have other favorites you would like to add into the mix! Just determine what step they would fall into, be sure that they don’t contain any ingredients that may be irritating, harmful to the skin, or contradictory to Mikel Kristi ingredients, and mix!! Most commonly, it would be serums you want to cocktail, so if you have one you love, just add a pump in the palm of your hand, add the others, and apply!! Simple as that!
