Daily Lifestyle Habits that Lead to a Healthy Complexion

Beautiful skin starts on the inside!
Your skin is your largest organ and not only does it need the right nutrients and protection on the surface, but it also needs to be nurtured from the inside.  Here are some simple habits for a beautiful, healthy complexion.

5 small habits for great skin:

  1. Eat at least 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Studies show that those who eat a mostly whole food, plant-based diet, age more slowly due to the abundance of antioxidants and fiber in their diet.  We are constantly being bombarded with free radicals that steal the energy from our healthy cells. You can combat these free radicals by providing your body with antioxidants on the skin’s surface (with Mikel Kristi products of course) and in your diet. If you’re not ready to embrace an entirely plant based lifestyle you can start by making small changes. Strive to eat 75% of your diet in fruits and veggies.

  2. Drink more water! It always amazes me how many people drink very little water.  Your skin is 64% water, so if you are dehydrated your skin will not look supple and healthy. You’ll notice more fine lines, wrinkles, and dry skin. Water not only hydrates your skin, but it also is crucial in the removal of toxins. If you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and it does not bounce back quickly, then you may be dehydrated. As a rule of thumb, drink 0.5-1 ounce of water per pound of body weight daily. If you weigh 150 pounds then you would drink 75-150 oz of water daily.

  3. Exercise frequently. Ideally, if you can do some form of exercise daily, your skin will glow.  Exercise helps your lymphatic system remove toxins from the skin. Sweating helps clean out pores and decreases bacterial overgrowth on the skin. The increased blood flow carries oxygen to your skin cells which helps  improve collagen production, remove toxins, and fight free radicals. Also, the more muscle tone you have, the firmer and more youthful your skin will look.

  4. Sleep is vital. Our bodies use this time to regenerate and repair. When you apply our potent Mikel Kristi products, packed with bio active ingredients, at night, your skin uses them to help restore your collagen, fight free radicals, and nourish your skin cells. Try to sleep 7-8 hours per night in a cool, dark room.

  5. Adopt an attitude of gratitude and love. Gratefulness and love increase happiness and the hormones that go along with it. Endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin increase when we express positive emotions. These hormones give your skin a luminous glow by increasing blood flow and decreasing stress hormones like cortisol. Spend some time each day thinking about what you are grateful for in your life, and spread some love every day.

Give your skin the love it deserves from the inside out and reap the rewards of a radiant glow.

Will there be a segment for skin care related to people in their 50’s and 60’s who want to continue good care of their skin. Are there special products for the “more matured” skin? Thank you.
