A New Year, A Fresh Start, And Paying It Forward

January is the season to define who is it you want to be, and how you want to face the world in the coming year. We at mikel kristi are no different. I am so excited to share with you our new developments as they come to light, and it looks like 2018 is going to be one for the record books! We are so grateful for sharing your skin stories with us, and we are honored that you entrust us with the health and wellbeing of your skin.

As I set some new goals for myself in the year to come, I know that good planning is a huge component to success. And just like any solid skincare routine, you can have the of best intentions (and products!), but if you don’t apply them consistently, you won’t get the result that you want. The same can be said for the qualities of life we want to bring into 2018. For me, two questions are at the front of my mind for the new year. The first is, how can I “pay it forward” in life? Meaning, how can I put out into the world, what I want to see in the realms of health, kindness, and generosity? And second, how can I bring more consistency to the actions that bring in the above qualities?

The consistency part is a little more straight forward to work with. It is said that habits are made and broken in the timeframe of 21 consecutive days. And even better, more complete change within 90. For those of you that have purchased our Core Kit (that gives you everything you need for complete skin transformation in three months) knows exactly what I am talking about.

As the old lottery adage goes, you can’t win if you don’t play! And with our commitment to bringing you effective, natural, and clear cut skincare, playing with us is a sure bet. If by chance you have fallen off of the self-care wagon after the holidays you can always start fresh today, and recommitment to yourself with a new Core Kit. Your future self will thank you! Consistency is all about taking every opportunity to apply the law of action to the small steps that are required to get you to your goals. Staying focused on making the next best decision can keep you on track, whether it's your skincare routine, your health intentions, or your career aspirations.

And as for the question of “paying it forward”, here is my first action step of the year to you all. As a huge thank you, and as a means of spreading a little product love, we have a big offer for you! The Skin Type Myth
The Skin Type Myth

by Bold Commerce Collaborator January 20, 2020

Does Skin Type Matter?
In reality, everyone’s skin has the same anatomy, and therefore the same basic needs to keep skin young and healthy.  So, knowing your skin type (oily, dry, or combination) really doesn’t matter when choosing skincare… as long as you meet these needs.
Any skincare product regimen should address these 3 basic needs:

  1. Natural exfoliation
  2. Restoration of collagen
  3. Protection from environmental damage.

Psychological Obstacles To Aesthetic Intervention

by Christy Hall January 13, 2020

I want to bring to light the many stigmas attached to the use of cosmetic intervention as a whole. The idea of beauty in our culture has been warped and misguided by big beauty and fashion marketing for many years, and I am happy that a more inclusive mindset is starting to take hold in our culture that honors everyone’s uniqueness. You can see this in the popularity of tattoos, vibrant hair colors and different body types being embraced and well represented. And cosmetic intervention is no different than the aforementioned choices.

Bioactive Ingredients? What are they and why are they important?

by Christy Hall January 06, 2020

We all want healthy, radiant, youthful skin. Many of us buy excessive amounts of skincare products looking for the magic, only to become disappointed when they don’t see the results we crave.  I’ve been there myself and really it was that dissatisfaction with my own skin that led me into the field of cosmetic dermatology and aesthetics. I was a product whore in my late 20’s and yet my skin was still dry, dull, and discolored. The final straw was when wrinkles started appearing at age 30.  What was I doing wrong? I had talked to a dermatologist, I had read every article in beauty magazines that I could, and I tried every over the counter product I could get my hands on, yet nothing seemed to give me the results I wanted. I did not understand the issue until I started my career in cosmetic dermatology.
